Lots of people blaming the owners but I don’t think Sports Republic would have known about or sanctioned anything. Sorry but it sits firmly with the coaching and analyst team. I can’t believe Tonda Eckert was unaware of how information on opposition teams was being obtained. Heads will roll in the coaching and team management department.
As for the appeal tomorrow all I can see is either rejection or at best the 4 points being suspended.
What the EFL has done is now set a precedent where any breaches of any rules for whatever reason will be severely punished. |  |

Sadly I think Heisenburg is right, this is a sporting decision, so I doubt the owners would have known this. It'll be 1st Team management. There is no accident Will Salt was pictured with Tonda and the rest of his team in the MotM award. He would have wanted his Spies (sorry Analysts) to get some credit.
Personally I think sacking people is the wrong way to go. If the same team did the crime they need to do the time. That time is accepting the job of getting us promoted automatically,which is going to be no mean task, given that some of this team will be broken up. If we get any fine intead of the 4 points on appeal, the man who made the decision to sanction this needs to pay it. |  |

Ever since Dragan and the clowns rolled into town we’ve had one disaster after another., mistake after mistake. They’ve cost the club millions on getting relegated twice, sacking managers and now the ultimate insult been found guilty of cheating .

Yep. There is that precedent. God knows how you go from 200K fine for a whole season of cheating to expulsion and 4 points for us. We definately need punishing, just more at a Leeds level I think.

I agree, a huge leap from the Leeds punishment to ours I doubt they will overturn the expulsion because they are scared of the already implied threat to take legal action made by Gibson if he does not get is own way - but can you imagine if they did? We appeal hoping to get the 4 points lifted. Take the punishment then conduct an internal review that will identify who was responsible and who knew about this. They should be fired without compensation. The club can then start to rebuild. Suing the EFL is high risk. | |

SR may not have been aware of what was going on (and this does look like an issue at team management and coaching level) but they are ultimately responsible for the governance of the club and no matter how you dress it up, they have to take responsibility - whether that is deciding who should stay and who should go or other measures. Like it or not, since SR have rolled into the club it has been one case of mis-management after another, at various levels over various seasons. There is a mountain now for the owners and this club to climb and they need to start now.
On a separate note, I mentioned the other day how bad we are at PR and communication. This morning the SFC website still displays things related to Saturday. No statement or nothing to the fans or the wider world. Don't use the (pointless) appeal as an excuse. They should have been working through the night to have changed that website. Behind the curve, slow to respond, dithering - seems to be the mantra of SFC owners and guardians of the club. | | | |

Personally, I feel that there is now no way that our current Owners and their senior employees at Sports Republic can restore the bond of trust between themselves and us as supporters.Its over for them and us.
If Southampton Football Club, “ The Saints” is to survive in any meaningful form the only solution from a fans perspective is for them to put the club on the market, take a substantial financial hit and ride away into the sunset.
It won’t happen of course because they haven’t got any real interest in us, to them we are just a revenue stream.
After the ramifications of yesterday with the soul of the club ripped out the direction of travel without new owners is in one direction only and that’s downward, probably to administration and ultimate extinction. | |

Tonda is responsible for the cheating. He will resign or be sacked in the next day or two.
SR are responsible for the culture at the club, including appointing TOTALLY inexperienced and/or useless managers. I don't buy for one moment that Tonda didn't know the rule, he had that excuse in his back pocket in case he was caught, and he was caught.
I have been all over the place since the verdict - so apologies for saying the same thing for the third or fourth time:
SR's biggest responsibility since this idiocy was exposed on that Thursday was how they responded. We saw how proactive MBoro were . SR instead left tens of thousands of Saints fans totally in the lurch. People were coming up with all sorts of things - maps of the training ground, 'Salt didn't even work for us' etc etc. Then we had the extreme stress of consulting the Echo and other sources all day yesterday. SR knew the whole truth by tea time that Thursday. Even at that stage we faced a points deduction at minimum. What did they do? They sat on their hands and hoped for the best. Could they not have sacked or suspended all those responsible straightaway? Yes - it may have made beating MBoro a bit less likely but when it came time for the inevitable to hit the fan we would have had a much better defence than the rubbish Tonda came up with.
That, of course, is wisdom in hindsight with knobs on - but that is all that f*cking SR left us with. MBoro behaved atrociously from the start on this but which team will play in the final? Yes, it is a travesty that MBoro will play in the final but it is going to happen because what they did WORKED - what SR did TOTALLY FAILED. The reason for SR to get out (they won't of course) is that even when we get a few weeks of pleasure they manage to F*ck it up.
Yes, we are right to be angry at the sick joke of a league process (I believe Gibson has an EFL post) and with Mboro's behaviour and with a sanction that IS excessive but in the end this starts and finishes with those responsible for the club - and that is SR.
As a last thing I expect most of us apart from the Zen Buddhists amongst us have a lot of anger and rage to find an outlet for at the moment, I certainly do. Perhaps we should remember that none of this is our (the fans) fault and accept that different people process things in different ways and so try to avoid screaming at each other!! Scream at Mboro, Gibson, SR, Tonda, Salt but not at each other - won't happen but I just feel like saying it....... | | | |
