Taxpayers Shouldnt Be Paying for Kiddie Meals 18:28 - Oct 15 with 18324 views | Poirot | If 'parents' cant afford to feed their kids they shouldnt have them in the first place. Where's daddy ? bookies, pub or banged up again ? Its child neglect if you cant feed your kids, so turn off netflix, sky sports, buying endless tattooes and actually get a job. I do some work at schools and see teachers feeding pupils their breakfast because parents havent. Total disgrace Mornington crescent [Post edited 15 Oct 2020 20:54]

Taxpayers Shouldnt Be Paying for Kiddie Meals on 17:09 - Oct 24 by Chesham_Saint | I know one shouldn’t generalise from the particular, but that is appalling. What’s worse is it makes people who really need this support appear like scrounges when they’re not. As ever it’s the minority who fvck it up for the majority (like England fans used to)... |

Taxpayers Shouldnt Be Paying for Kiddie Meals on 11:08 - Oct 25 with 1274 views | JaySaint | one of my local pubs is getting an absolute battering on social media. They posted something about 'stepping up' to feed 'hungry kids' as the govt are not. when you actually read the T&Cs, to get a 'free kids meal', you need to buy 1 adult meal from their lunch menu (with a soft drink), which will make available 1 kids meal from 'selection'. You must eat in the restaurant as takeaways are not included in the 'deal'. And the free meal does not include a drink (table water is an optional extra). People are seeing through this for what it is....... [Post edited 25 Oct 2020 11:09]

I can't believe that at least 5 years ago when people had children they didn't take into account the fact that a global pandemic would devastate the global economy and leave them in a position where they'd lost their jobs and struggled to feed their kids. Seriously people shouldn't have children if they can't see the future.

But no more people have lost their jobs at the moment than the last recession. People with children still receive child benefit, that hasn't stopped. And are we seriously saying parents can't afford to buy a 90p can of beans and a 50p loaf of bread to give them beans on toast for the week, even with their child benefit, that is supposed to be spent on the kids? They can't afford £1.40 a week? The state shouldn't really have to feed the nation's children as a whole I don't think. If a particular kid is suffering or is starving of course the social services should step in. But all kids in the whole of England? Put it this way, my work brings me into contact with education and according to the teachers, 95 % of secondary kids have mobile phones. [Post edited 26 Oct 2020 14:43]

This point I totally agree with. But the Socialist Labour MP's, also take advantage of the subsidised food and various bars. You don't see them campaigning to ban it. The state shouldn't be feeding the nation's kids, but I agree the state shouldn't also be sudsidising well paid MP's. It was the same with the pay rise at 11 per cent a few years back. Nobody campaigned to stop it, on all sides. So the socialists are also greedy?

Struggling parents should be already funded as part of their benefits package. Labour make disgusting politics out of this and put Tory MPs in difficult position not wanting to spell out the reality of already increasing social payments. Of course there always be children in need that should be helped. Nonsense about number of children 'in poverty'. This is a calculated figure defined as a % of the UK median wage. So this will always appear as a relatively large number, doesn't necessarily mean that kids are going without food, shoes or phones.

By' benefit package 'you mean universal credit and hardship funding for councils. So by doing this its not necessary to extend free school meals over the holidays? I like some of these Tories meet people struggling to feed their kids. Try claiming on Universal Credit and how long it can take. As for hardship funding for councils, I'd like to know how that works out. [Post edited 26 Oct 2020 16:58]

Taxpayers Shouldnt Be Paying for Kiddie Meals on 17:33 - Oct 26 with 1035 views | sfc1971 | I will poke in with my 50 pence worth. I know plenty of parents who for no fault of their own have often fallen on hard times but will ALWAYS put food on the table for the kids often going without themselves. BUT I know a lot more who will pump out kids for fun often with more than one baby daddy, swan around in their 20k car, spend 50 quid a day on fags, lotto cards and booze, having lip fillers, perfect nails, nice hair, the very best phone going and a holiday to some far-flung Fnck fest. then as soon as the holidays come along they plead poverty by claiming they cannot afford to feed the kids? Most of these types don`t even want the kids home for the hols as they ruin the social lives of the dysfunctional parents. Its a cash for kids culture and most of these kids are neglected to roam the streets at all hours and will only turn into clones of the parents who should be ashamed !!

Now, now Sogs, you know that’s bending the truth. The blue print for the original NHS was drafted by a Tory and would have come about no matter which party was in power. Similar, in a way to the ground work Major did on the Good Friday agreement for Mowlem to carry through to fruition.

Excellent post. I have been through the slums of India, where I have seen what you might call real poverty and genuinely starving kids in the slums. I'm sure we have plenty of unfortunate kids who are in difficult situations. But you sum it up - when me and wife had some tough times, the first thought was looking after the kids. The car went, we didn't have phones then, the holidays stopped, the treats stopped, just to put food on the table. Like I said earlier, the kids all have mobiles don't they nowadays, then they say they are starving. Can't feed your own kids, when you get child benefit for that very purpose? Can't afford £2 per week, yet 95 per cent of the country has mobile phones and flat screen tv's. Do me a favour. They should visit slums in India and they will see real poverty, where kids work to feed themselves. They will also learn to prioritise and that computer consoles, phones and tv's don't exist in the slums. [Post edited 26 Oct 2020 18:04]
