Are you for, or against it?

Looks like united will be the first to open areas with it in, very soon, using the quadrant areas, they are juat awaiting a response from the usually compliant trafford council.

I'd love it, but I'm 50 now, not sure it's in time for me, but hopefully will enhance the atmospheres at grounds, which have become relatively sterile of late.

100% against it. A stupid idea that would just be like a seated area without the seats.

Can't be bothered with standing now, we have sofas to watch games on ...

Being serious, I can't see it making an impact here, the clubs want to appeal to tourists who want to sit there with club shop tat all round them. We are not the fans they want, so safe standing will never be a thing.

If it saves me a few shin injuries a season from goal celebrations, it might be a bonus, I guess.

It was OK at Spurs, but it’s great fun to pile down a row or four when we score, and this would put a stop to that. Unless one were particularly brave....

Do you have safe standing areas at gigs or festivals?

I don't really see how it'll help the atmosphere either as the majority of fans who sing stand up anyway.

I think the clue is in the name, Safe Standing, as opposed to standing in seated areas which really isn't safe!
All for it!

It doesn't really matter what we think as our owners wouldn't pay for anything like that. Where's the profit in it for them?

If they can fit twice as many people in as there are with seats and keep the ticket price the same, or sell it as a premium standing space and increase the price then they can make a bit of money out of it.

Be honest , the only ones shouting for it are 'us' oldies.

If you could guarantee it went to under 25 year olds it would be a great spectacle. My boys would rather the best seats in the house or a box.

Trust no one in a circus.

I’m getting on too mate but I’m all for it. I remember the atmospheres at grounds in the 70’s and 80’s . Loved those days. Proper football days out although I’m way too old now to jump around all over the place .

Not officially but they are geared up for it with bars to lean against while standing as fans always do at away games anyway

I think I recall Wolves pre-empting this decision by installing the necessary barriers, in anticipation of a favourable outcome.

You're right, it will be one seat out, one 'safe-standing' in, no likely increase in capacity.

I'd like to see it in the hope it would add a bit of atmosphere to the dead stadiums of England but as it will just as likely be the same crowd currently passively standing in seated areas, I have my doubts.

Poll: If our new manager is a success, which club will he be managing in 2 years time?

Safe Standing on 08:29 - Feb 12 with 1533 viewsfranniesTache

I want it to happen, and i know for a fact the club have already done a feasibility study of where it'll be in St Mary's, though i'm not 100% sure it'll solve the atmosphere problem as it'll still have the same people in it, and if you look at our main "home end" at the moment (the northam) it's fully of people that wear replica kits and take cuddly toys to games, and until they change the atmosphere will stay the same.

Also Pat if you think you can't have a pile down after a goal then you didn't see me at Spurs away in the cup, i ended up cartwheeling over the top of the barrier into a handstand because of Walking Rosie

100% for it, give fans the choice of whether they want to sit or stand. I quite liked having the rail in front of me at Spurs.

You're onto something there TCM - why don't clubs just have a mosh pit round the edge of the pitch and fill it with foam?
