To be fiar I think we got closer to market value (at the time) for Holt, Lambert, Murray. I am not sure many people thought they would go on to play Premiership/International or even top Championship Football at the time we sold them.
I always thought Buckley (200K to 240K) was under-priced at the time, as given his pace and age, it looked like he had potential to play much higher. The fact he moved for 1 million little over a year later supports this.
In the end I think we got an extra 100K for Holt (400K total), 200K Lambert (400K total) and 200K Buckley (400K total).
Having said that, many sides have sold players who were nowhere near as good for a lot more, but that is not to say they were worth it. Le-Fondre was a bit of a fire-sale, but in the end that worked out well as if we had not sold him, we would not have brought in O'Grady.

Hogan. And so it begins... on 11:24 - Nov 26 with 1855 views
We are in a win win situation with Hogan. We sell him for good money and win (which I don't think will happen soon) or we see him score goals or create goals, and win. Last Saturday against Exeter he ran at speed with the ball intending to get in the box which resulted in the freekick when he was fouled, which became a goal. In this way Hogan makes things happen. He is the spark. And we have other sparks, I know.
Stay or go, we win...but it goes without saying we want him to stay.

How do we "win" if we let him go for £250k and lose one of our main source of goals?

I said let him go for "good money", and I agree that £250k is not good money especially if we have no direct replacement. My "good money" would start at £300k but I probably would want £500k. And we most probably wouldn't get £500k today and that is why I said he probably wouldn't go straight away. Therefore he is staying in my book. And I'm glad.
I know Hilly has proven again and again that he can pull rabbits out of the hat but that takes time .
Hogan is worth more to us on the pitch than £250k or even £300k in the Bank. Personally, if I was CD it would have to me more than £500k before I even thought twice about it.
Times like this we (he) need to hold our nerve and look at the bigger picture. We are a selling club there's no doubt about that but lets sell when the time is right and on our terms.

Does anybody know if we still budget to lose £250k per year?
Total income + £250 000
and then we chip away at the £250 000 with player sales / TV money / cup runs?.
If this is the case then just to stand still ( with the lapsed supporter apathy ) if we were offered £250 000 + add ons for any player unless exceptional i would expect them to go.
Hogan has the potential to be exeptional as one or two others have so definatley lets see just how interested other clubs are before we roll over for a derisory amount.
Just shows how important the Rotherham game is on the 7th.

I hope he was being watched last Saturday as it was probably his poorest display this season. His link up with Rose rarely came off and he was shut down continually. He did create the free kick which resulted in a wonderful goal for Rose, who also appeared strangely hesitant in his part of the linking up to Hogan. Anyway, he has great potential, but is work in progress and maybe the scouts will recognise this and leave him alone for a little longer.

If they saw him tonight as well it may confirm he needs to stay for a little longer than a little longer. I thought his game tonight was very one dimensional and naive. Even with eleven on the pitch he was just picking up the ball and running into three or four players without a hope in hell of gaining anything from the situation. He must have given the ball away more than any other player tonight. The higher up the leagues you go giving the ball away cheaply becomes more of a punishable crime. Anyone scouting him will surely have noted that. He can't just run at people all the time. There are situations that require him to hold the ball or release it early. I don't go to away fixtures and I fear I'm missing all the hype here.

He's been poor the last two games, don't know why but his decision making has been way off.
