Why don't Bournemouth need to sell before buying? 21:36 - Sep 21 with 888 viewsSaintsforeverj

The latest defeat brought it home to me how good Bournemouth have become and good luck to them. But why is it that a team that has gates a third the size of ours, can buy top players like Lerma, Wilson. Ake and also keep players like callum Wilson? The Saints owners might say about the fair play regulations or agent fees. But Bournemouth have far less income. So our owner must be keeping the money right?

They're being bankrolled by a rich owner (Russian?) and we've got one of the poorest men in China

We were the better side last night. Second half we battered them (albeit without sufficient quality to score). Our undoing and their success was all our doing.

We are quite often the better side. Being the better team with more possession, more shots flying over the bar counts for nothing. In the end, being able to defend and being ruthless upfront (quality) wins games. I think Ralph is mostly doing a cracking job with what he has. What would we give to have callum Wilson up front?

We have certain fans on here defending the clubs strategy & others condemn it. But the fact of the matter is Gao is in it for the money the same as kat. If they were in it for the love of the club they would be at the games. Since we came up we have a net profit of £3m on players alone, take into account the TV money, sponsors, merc & gate receipts & then you start to see why we don't by big or keep our best players or why the owners can't be bothered.
Actions speak louder than words or in this case in-action speaks louder than words.

Sounds pretty valid, but how many owners are in it for the love of the ckub at Prem level?
It's just that ours don't seem to speculate to accumilate

Quite a lot. It's a bit like horse racing: a rich man's expensive hobby. In the past the rich men were mostly local businessmen made good who wanted to put something back into the community, like the owner at Brighton. Now, they are mostly international billionaires, like the owners at Man City, Leicester and Chelsea, who compete against each other for the glory of winning trophies (again, much like horse racing).

Very few owners are in it because they think they can make money out of the club. Kat was one of the exceptions who did and presumably she convinced Gao that he could too, which is how she persuaded him to buy an 80% share from her.

Poll: Would you like a home 'kop' at St. Mary's directly behind one of the goals?

Remember Wilson wasn't a top player when we signed him he was in L1 with Coventry. Also sales do fund purchases we sold Mousset and Mings for about £30-35 million in the summer.

Are they that good though....really?

On your question, i thought that most of our fan base had finally cottoned on as to why we have to sell first. It really isnt rocket science and the forum merely confirmed this for those that failed to grasp the concept. We have an owner with no desire or cash (or both) to take us to this supposed next level that Kat was suggesting. Added to that we have amassed an enlarged overinflated squad of mediocrity.
