Sleep walked in to that win. Once Hull went down to 10 we looked liked the side with a man short. And once again we had a decent (but disjointed) first half but sat back and got pummelled for much of the second.
Our midfield seemed to forget how to play in the second half with Siggy, Shelvey and Routledge being well below what should be expected and Ki suffering from the additional workload.
Another game where the substitutions were baffling (Rangel excluded as a like for like replacement.
Three well taken goals against a woeful Hull.
Pleased with the 3 pts but the jeering from large sections of the crowd for long periods of the second half told the story of a game between two teams incapable, on the day, of producing sustained quality football.

Disappointing result. Didn't create much once more except for Pelle's effort (great save by Howard). Had we gone ahead, I think we would have won. JWP had a good shot with a good save again by Howard. Conceded a very, very poor goal. Defence got caught ball watching really and were slow to re-act. Apart from that, Everton never looked like scoring so it's a real kick in the teeth. Same old story though, we go 1 down and it's pretty much game over.

I was surprised to Elia start. Apart from his game against Newcastle, I don't think he has contributed much to any game he has been in.He always seems to be on the periphery. That's not to make him a scapegoat for todays result but based on his performances so far, I wouldn't buy him in the summer. I'd like to see Elia get the ball more and run at the defence and make runs not the box. He seems to be lost / isolated on the wing and doesn't move from there. The same goes for Djuricic. He hasn't done much at all.I realise it may take time for them to adapt a la Mane (who should have started) but they need to contribute a bit more at least.

It's a pity we lost as it would have been great to leap frog Liverpool. Oh, to finish ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham!!

Typical saints performance - almost the defining match of our season. Possession, pretty football, solid defending and an inability to score so deeply embedded the groundsmen might as well have dismantled the opposition's goal posts and gone home. It's getting so boring. I liked it when we leaked goals aplenty and scored masses - Matty, Shearer, Rideout and the Wallaces slammin em in. Sigh.

Having said all that, Howard the mad mullah pulled a couple of amazing saves out of the hat didn't he? Buy him!

A CLASSIC IT WAS NOT nor even a particularly good game, indeed it would not be unfair to describe the first half as frankly boring, but it came to life after the penalty and it never really felt that we were going to lose thereafter. A section of the crowd around me were just starting to sing "If Pelle scores we're on the pitch" when he did just that, and it felt like a moment of liberation. It is unfair to criticise Pelle for the goal drought since Christmas because he has been trying his best, but football, like all sport, is 90% about confidence and he just hasn't had it of late. The breakthrough achieved, he started to play like a man re-born and you could almost feel and taste the sense of optimism flowing back into the team. With the final whistle blown, the mood on the terraces was of a corner turned, and when the stadium announcer finally told us that Spurs had lost at home, relief turned to joy. It is probably too early to start packing my sombrero but I am certainly thinking of getting it down from the loft.........
