Well done Puel for getting a good fit team together despite Fonte leaving and VVDs injury. Well played everyone but top marks to Redmond and Yoshida and pretty near top marks to the rest of the team. Team tactics dead right and L'pool always fearful of our fast breaks whilst having no answer to our solid defense. Jack Stephens looks a natural and Simms will cause many upsets with those rapid breaks. Redmond was a bag of energy in the first half and they could not contain him.
Liverpool face the same problem as Saints of not being able to put the ball in the net despite having some very good and expensive players. Let that be a warning to those who think that buying a new striker will immediately solve our goal glut. My feelings are that gradually the goals will start to come as confidence in the midfield increases.
Just hope I can get a ticket!

Worst display by Rangers since the White City days. Diabolical defending, no midfield, toothless in attack.

Wrong formation 1st half with Silla isolated. Doughty struggled and Luongo was disinterested which meant that we saw nothing from central midfield.
Ollie changed things at half time with Washington playing off Silla and the team finally showed some energy but all round, a day to forget. Defence looked shaky - particularly Onouha. Only bright spot was Lua Lua.

I would say the word pathetic but l would be being to generous
From the moment l saw the lineup l realized Puel had no intention of really wanting to win this game. Feel sorry for anyone paying for this debacle, sad state of affairs, we never looked like getting anything out of this game rite from the first whistle.

That performance was a total disgrace. That was an insult to the paying fans to pick a team like that and it undermines all the good feeling the club had built up in the week. It was a near full house and people paid hard earned money so are entitled to expect to see the best players available, not a team selected to surrender the game. The club should give us our money back. These kids are just not good enough. Rotation Does Not Work. - See more at: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/44929/saints-v-arsenal-th

team selection didnot make sense and thus there was a disjointed performance Almost seemed that the players did not know each other in the first half Second period the game improved but the second goal from Burton killed us off despite the Washington effort Probably the worst performance of the season IH admited blame but how can you change a winning team in the first place

Well didn't take long, for the moaners to come out did it!!!!! I had the same discussion with some bloke who left the game after 25 minutes yesterday !!! FFS we played Wednesday, played yesterday are playing Tuesday and playing Saturday, we have nearly a full team out injured Mcarthy, Pied, VVD, Targett, Boufal, JWP, Rodriguez and Austin. What team would everyone like Claude to put out??? A bit of sense and realism is required here people. UTS

Puel had few players to choose from because of injuries but the team selected was dreadful, I suspect the introductions took longer than the team training for this match. The inadequacies of certain players was clearly highlighted, Classie in particular looked lost and without a strong team around him was very poor. In fact the small in stature midfield were just swept away by a not too special Arsenal side who completely controlled the game.
It is no wonder that hordes left before the end, tho' I do not support that action.
I was pleased to see Gardos again, he has been out for two years and he looked very nervous at the start but he had heaps of promise when we bought him and we must now get him match fit. Our team individually were all goodish players but they were far from the quality players that we need. I hope this result does not affect our confidence for the forthcoming important games.
A word of praise for Danny Welbeck who made an excellent return to the Arsenal side. He was a right handful and took his chances cooly and efficiently. A powerful forward like Welbeck is just what Saints need. We also need some stronger midfield players, Classie and Reed just haven't got it
