What can be said about this game other than it was lost in the first 20 minutes. We were all at sea no cohesion in midfield JWP a wasted space in his position.Hard to find any positives really but l think Obafemi should get a start as he looked lively and surely has to be an upgrade on long who has to be benched now.Hughes to be fired but it probably won't happen though, really can't find anything to suggest we will get any better but trying to look on the bright side but really hard.

This game should have been a free pass for Hughes. No-one expected a saints win, all that was needed was a competent display. Instead, it was an embarrassing mess. That will be City's easiest game all season.

The issues at the club go far beyond Hughes, but he is not adding anything positive at the moment. I have no idea who would want to take on the job, but there has to be better, doesn't there?!

Also, the club should reimburse the fans who went all that way today. I seem to remember that Sunderland did when we tonked them under RK. Happy days...

Why did he play JWP when he plays its like playing with 10 MEN. Second rate in every department. GOING DOWN.

I said death spiral a few weeks ago and we needed a change. Not sure I've changed my mind. Struggling to see any real progress under Hughes and aside from Ings the new additions by their absence seem to be 50 million down the plughole. Wny don't we just pay the asking price for proven players, particularly when we just escaped relegation and needed a solid season.

A year ago our most reviled manager since Branfoot came within a few seconds of a draw on this ground. Pep moaned about our tactics making it hard for him. MH is more his type of man - pick a starting XI with JWP, Redmond and Long and then look surprised when we get hammered.

Of course the sad and blindingly obvious decline in the quality of our playing resources is not the fault of MH but I really don't know what he was trying to do today. Did he really think the three above mentioned were going to take apart City on the break and also defend ruggedly?

SaintPaulVW hits the nail on the head with his plughole - we are even weaker now than we were last season, in fact we are probably weaker than at any time since we came up. Our first game of all when we came up was an entertaining 3-2 defeat at today's opponents, who were champions then too. That starting XI probably had Kelvin Davis and Danny Fox in it but I would swap it for this lot in a second.

Our problem is not just Hughes it’s more the poor recruitment over the last few seasons nothing will save us this year until the owners get their heads out of the sand and sack the man who is responsible that man is les Reed poor managerial appointments and poor recruitment and a failing academy

This result says as much about Man City than Saints. They have a team which includes five world class players plus several very good ones who collectively are going to turn over almost every other side they meet in the EPL and, in consequence, devalues the league for the average club supporter. It is too one-sided to be entertaining. As for the Saints well, we have a young team with a few reasonable players and a number who simply haven't the talent to compete at this level. Is MH getting the best out of them - he probably doesn't have that skill to blend them as closely as possible - so, no but even if he did, we would still have lost and they did try. Got to take it on the chin, we are failing. Whether that can be turned around to survive this season is open to debate. This game reflects the investment of the respective clubs.
