At least Kpekawa got some game time, understandably nervous but signs of growing confidence towards the end. Ingram looked sound, Faulin at least tried and made a few tackles. Chery my MoM, for buzzing around and looking livelier than most even though he seemed to have mislaid his shooting boots. Polter's enthusiasm unable to conceal a dreadful first touch and Luongo doesn't seem physically strong enough for the middle of midfield, but did manage a few creative moments. Unfortunately although there were spells when we put a few passes together, we gave it away as much as any game this season. If you weren't there you didn't miss much.

I agree completely with Saintbrock.

Long and Tadic paired up really well and showed great understanding. They could/should have had another 4 between them. Davis had a good game without standing out (as always) and I thought our full backs were good and they were tested in defence by a Villa side that played well in attack at times. They were woeful in defence and Guzan and the woodwork prevented a cricket score. Good cameo by Mane and nice to see him kiss the badge after scoring.

Good reports Brock and Bett. It was an eerie game to watch with home crowd giving vent to their frustrations - can't be easy for the visiting side in those circumstances. Could easily have been 6 for Saints with the chances created. Interesting that Ron said he took Vic off at H/T because he wasn't happy with the midfield - doesn't bode well for Vic remaining a Saint after the Summer.

Like you Bett I was interested to see Mane celebrate with Pelle after his goal and then kiss the badge; I so hope he plays another season or two for Saints - he makes things happen.

typical end of season fare. Had the opportunities to win this but Ingram had to make some good saves too Lacklustre atmosphere Good to see Cile get a run out and Petrasso looked effective Always impressed with Poulter work rate but has not scored for a while Great to see Ferdinand get a warm welcome and farewell

Well Perazi, you think that it was a political decision, perhaps part of a strategy tweaked his hand to get him to sign up?

Very interesting!

pre-google that was meant to be "to weaken his hand"

Great performance..saints were right on it, snapping at Man C, winning the ball again and again. Clear plan to win the ball high up the field and release the pace and they did it brilliantly. Man C's midfield was absent without leave for the whole of the 1st half. Although Dusan supplied 3 assists, he had the time and space to create several more but dallied at the crucial moment and it was only this plus the brilliant Ihaenacho that prevented a repeat of Sunderland last year.

Shane Long was incredible, even better than that performance against Arsenal. Mane took his goals very well and linked up beautifully with Tadic. Romeu and VW were solid and imposing (unlike Classie), defence was solid and VVD, Bertrand and Cuco all looked really good going forward.

Best moment was JWP, clear through with 5 mins to go, desperately looking around for a team mate.. comedy gold!

Shane Long was my man of the match top class performance from first to last minute, Mane turned in A very good game against a very poor Man C but you can only beat the team in front of you, Tadic put in one of his best efforts this season.
If Hodgson takes Delph and Sterling to the Euros I will not be watching as they have been awful this year, and they were absent today.
