Far to slow at moving the ball, we've some players poorly off form who need dropping as the team not good enough to carry them. Forster may make the odd save but doesn't command his area, Bertrand off form looks like he's going through the motions and van greedy shouldn't be given a chance to play

What is there to write about other than a fine individual goal and a crackerjack of a penalty from Gabbi and a fine cameo performance from Sofiane Boufal for the last 20 mins. Both must start surely or is the manager really as stupid as many already believe him to be.

Mr van Dyke needs reminding that SFC are still paying his wages!

A slow start that built up into an exciting if nervy and mistake-ridden game. Great goal from Gabbi but poor work to let them straight back in. Redmond was really poor and seems always to blame someone else, Bertrand took an age to spark into life. Cedric worked hard but lacked support and Romeu is currently a shadow of what he was last season. Lemina was epic and Boufal showed what he is capable of when he got on. Forster is a big worry for me - he's not commanding the area, won't come off his line and his far too vulnerable to a low strike from outside the box (three goals this season already). Time for a rest, I think. I would also put Redmond on the bench and replace him with Boufal who really needs a run of starts. At the moment I'd also replace Romeu with Davis.
Kevin Friend was beyond shocking with some mystifying decisions throughout the game and no control of time-wasting. He missed a cast iron foul on Yoshida just before the first goal and, though I hate to say it, we may have got away with the penalty. I thought he'd blown to book Long for a dive. Haven't seen a replay, though and the Newcastle players didn't seem to complain all that much.
We played well for most of the second half and should have got three pints but the pointless hoofing up to Gabbi, Long and Austin yielded nothing all game so why bother?

Just keeps getting more infuriating , whys van dijk get straight back in hoedt,s been fantastic , redmond is waste of space and needs dropping , tadic not far off redmonds level , id drop both play davis in behind long and gaby , boufal on wing , drop forster as he does nowt , he never comes out of his six yard box and has as much presence as a tree , what is dave watson telling him ? He cant punch let alone catch any crosses or corners , he doesnt talk to his defense and good impulse saves are just not enough , we need a complete keeper , McCarthy is decent enough . Pellegrino wont change though , dead man walkin looks like already . Thank god for lemina , best buy for years

Another frustrating afternoon at St Mary’s, still got to witness 2 goals! Forster don’t get him at all, soppy 2nd goal to concede. Redmond has too be dropped and Boufal given some proper game time, he did more in 25 minutes than Redmond has managed all season. Lemina was immense as was Gabbiadini, I thought Long caused them problems all afternoon and didn’t get bringing on Austin for him???? Hoedt must be gutted that he has been dropped for VVD, sell him in January and spend the money wisely and we may just beat the drop!!

Pleased to see 2 goals but we are not a side anywhere near as threatening as we were under RK. Defending too deep and trying to carefully pass our way forwards instead of using pace and urgency like we used to. Gives opposing sides plenty of time to regroup and prepare. Thought Mario was excellent as was Boufal when he came on. Virgil seems disinterested and hope the rumours about Barcelona are true. Romeo was unusually off his game today. Playing 2 strikers works, keep on with it please MP. Would like to see young Sam McQueen get some appearances. Has pace, strength, urgency and can cross a ball.

Crab passing ending with a back pass. Lemina aside, none of these players seem to know what they're meant to be doing. Is the manager over complicating tactics or do we have a bunch of comfortable lathargic players going through the motions? Two minutes in and Bertrand is shouting and pointing to where he thinks someone should be. If Leicester win today, we're two points off bottom two.
