A tough watch. It is tough to play with only 6 outfield players as Austin, Redmond, Hojberg and JWP had shockers and Fonte and VVD their poorest games for a while, but on the balance we did not deserve to lose 3-0. Foster ensured we did. We had more possession and twice the number of attempts of Palace.

Grabbing at straws Boufal is getting better and starting to show why we paid 16m for him. If the rest of the team functions then he will shine. Also surely it is time to start Sms in place of Redmond. Redmond either needs to start going past players or be replaced. He passes back every time!

Team for Thursday.

Forster
Cedric, Fonte, VVD, Bertrand
Simms Romeu Davis Hojberg Boufal
Austin

I think the midfield three of Romeu, Hojbjerg and JWP doesn't work, to many sideways, backwards passes.
They just seem to scared to go pass the centre circle, I cant remember any of them making late runs into the box. I'm not sure why Steve Davis didn't play?
Taking off Austin & Boufal was a bit odd when we needed to score.

Cedric put in a few good crosses but such a pity he wasn't playing at right back and for the first goal he was nowhere to be seen and it was Fonte carrying out his duties. The second goal he did nothing and for the final goal he was hiding somewhere in the middle of the penalty area. All the goals came from his side, as they usually do, and it's pretty obvious why. First rule of right back is stop the crosses coming over, basic stuff and ignored by Cedric.

That's it.I've had enuff. How hard is it just to score. After all the games we've played and having seen the problem I now blame Pull for not focusing on it and sorting it out.PLEASE drop Long,Redmond, JWP,D avis,Holjberg. They can only play pretty football but are useless at everything else. Our only hope is to have Tadic,Boufel and Austin up front till we can get TWO great strikers.Lets face it Radical is our only creative player along with our full backs.Arrrghhhh!!!!!!!!

Saints followed the weekend with yet another horror show . They barely created a single opportunity and to be honest got what they deserved van dyke was the only player who could leave the pitch having done his job and a bit more.

Poor - we were too slow, didn't move the ball quickly enough and too narrow, didn't use the space down the wings or stretch the defence. Smithies made several good saves (again).

Ref was very fussy and seemed to allow the home side to get away with challenges that he penalised Rangers for.

Rotherham treated this game like a six pointer, we didn't. We were lacklustre, devoid of pace or a plan. It seemed to me that we set up in a 4-5-1 and looking to counter attack. This idea was flawed though as we didn't have the width, pace or know how to create a decent chance let alone score. Everything was played through the congested middle and when the ball did go wide it was to Onuoha or Bidwell who would check back and go sideways or backwards as there was no one in space to pass it to further up the pitch.

The ref didn't help either but that was our fault as we didn't compete with the same intensity as Rotherham. We made every 50/50 decision easy for him due to our lack of conviction. QPR were not up for this so the ref had an easy afternoon and gave everything to them because he knew that no QPR player would question it.
