Well here we go again first goal bad pass from JWP leads to first goal, then McCarthy makes a complete screw up for the second then defense goes awol for the third.Going forward is not the problem for us but defending has been for three years now and has to be sorted, cause we have been saying that for ever it seems.
We had two right backs on the bench but we choose to play our center midfielder there, seemed a poor decision but it turned out to be the wrong one.

What a puzzling day! Puzzling team selection, puzzling pedestrian performance, puzzling substitutions (unless there were injuries) & tactics thereafter & most puzzling of all were the sleepy performances of Bednarek, Stephens & McCarthy-it was as though all 3 had been slipped something pre match!

Talking of McCarthy he had a horrible 1st half in everything he did or didn’t do, & the decisions he did or didn’t make, everything was wrong. And I’m a fan who thinks he’s the best goalkeeper we have on our books.

As Nick has been saying are defence is shite. I said before the match why did we have 2 right backs on the bench and then Prowse started at RB? If neither was fit enough for a full game why not play one in each half?
Maybe its time to start Gunn in goal. Why when we were losing 3-1 did Ralph bring on Vestergaard when Adams would have been better bet?

What a shambles. West Ham looked fitter and better in every department. How many more simple goals are defence going to concede this season. This summer we need to bring in the proper defenders that we have needed for the last 3 seasons.

The definition of insanity - do the same thing and expect different results.

Their big players have beaten us home and away.

So many bad points and difficult to name a player who had even an average game.

RH what a bad team selection. Why does he refuse to play Valery and release Jwp to play in midfield?

A very sleepy performance and not what I was expecting.

Over the last few seasons it's become a recurring theme: inability to break down teams who set up defensively. Yeah we can point to the slightly odd team selection (although plenty on this site were calling for JWP to start at right back after his performance against Villa), but this kind of performance against the likes of WHU and Burnley is a historic problem. As is the defensive errors...

Really poor performance, our defence (if you can call it that!!) was completley out muscled and out thought.I still cannot get my head around why we cannot seem to pick up players this zonal defence shite does not work. Midfield was inept Captain Chestbeater was pathetic as usual, Boufal was non-existent and Armstrong and Smallbone tried but didn't have their best days.Long and Obafemi were not really given the service with Ings on the bench we were always going to find it difficult to score.
I find it really difficult to gauge this display after last weeks Villa one but hopefully it is just a blip bring on Newcastle.

Play your best players in the correct positions. We're not good enough to rest our best players until safety is mathematically gurenteed. If you stay up the team needs investment over the summer and need to keep our best players. The pre season should be used to work on the best system with the players we have and go into the new season hitting the ground running. We're in trouble this season as Ralph seemed determined to use the idiotic 5 at the back for the first few months of this season despite it not working in pre season. Thankfully the Leicester humiliation killed that did system and the results improved.

We are 5-6 players away from being competitive but it's a big call to ask for this to be fixed over the summer so the rebuilding will take a few seasons. In the meantime we need to keep are best players - no selling to make a quick buck. Mr owner over to you.

Reversion to sterile pointless possession with a collection of players not 'gifted' enough to retain same for long enough ie 95 minutes, moreover the poor ball control, retention and lack of vision for the killer pass mean it is pointless, we are not going to address this unless we swap the 5 worst players out and bring 5 better ones in.
